An Increasing Need
In 2011, Helena Food Share experienced a solid 20% growth in the number of Monthly Grocery visit –an increase of over 2,500 visits to the Helena Food Share pantries compared to 2010.
23% of the families we serve have at least one person employed in the household.
Back Pack Program Grows
In October, 640 kids at risk for hunger at Bryant & Warren schools took food home over the weekend in their backpacks. It is put there by teachers and contains healthy, kid friendly items. Many thanks to Warren school for coming on board this year with the program and to MFBN for their continued partnership.
Facing a Fixed Income?
Every other month, Helena Food Share (with RMDC) distributes about 350 Senior Commodities boxes to folks in Helena and East Helena. Call 443-FOOD for yourself or someone you know.
Supporting Independence
Out of 100 new clients, 35 will only need to come in for food boxes every 2-3 months.
