For the second week, Helena Food Share will be distributing Farmers to Families Food Boxes. The distribution time next week will be Tuesday, June 2nd from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the 1616 Lewis Street Pantry. This program is open to anyone who needs food support. There are no eligibility requirements and no application is needed.
The product each week in June will include two different boxes. The first box is a fresh produce box, similar to last week including regionally grown potatoes, onions, apples, oranges, sweet potatoes, stone fruits, romaine heart, strawberries, broccoli and carrots, and peppers! The second box is a combination box, including fresh produce items plus a pre-cooked buffet ham, fully cooked chicken thighs, milk, butter and cheese. We encourage any community members in need of support to pick up a box and help support our regional farmers.
The Farmers to Families Food Box is a program of the USDA to distribute boxes of fresh produce to food banks and other nonprofits serving people in need at this time. The food box distribution is to continue weekly over the next six months. Please check our website and social media for regular updates.
