    Government Shutdown

  1. 1

[Helena, Montana, January 23, 2019] Helena Food Share strives to create a hunger-free community. Reaching out to our neighbors who need extra help is what Helena Food Share does every day, every season, for everyone who needs help.

As many of our Helena neighbors are now dealing with the impacts of the federal government shutdown, please know that Helena Food Share is here to help. If you, or anyone you know, needs food assistance, our doors are open and getting help is easy.

Asking for help can be hard. Every person who comes through our doors for food will be treated with dignity and respect.

These are the steps that you can take if you need food:

  1. Visit the pantry during operating hours with the required ID (outlined below).
  2. Check in at the front desk. A trained volunteer or staff member will help you complete a short intake form. All your information will be kept confidential.
  3. A volunteer will explain how to shop our pantry. Grab a card, a shopping list (based on family size) and start choosing food to nourish your family.

Eligibility Requirements:

Helena Food Share does not need any type of income verification. And, there are no age or income restrictions.

A household member must bring in a picture ID and (for the first visit only) documents with a social security number on it for all household members.

A picture ID must be shown each time you request groceries.
