Helena Food Share’s Community Room is an educational space dedicated to addressing our community’s health and nutritional needs. Any group that aligns with the Helena Food Share mission may request the use of the room at no charge for classes and events open to the community.

Groups can use the Community Room for cooking classes, meetings, lectures, and presentations. It has a demonstration kitchen and three learning stations for hands-on cooking classes, accommodating up to 12 students. It can also accommodate meeting/lecture seating for up to 36 with movable tables and chairs.

Please complete and submit the Inquiry Form below to tell us about your organization and how you intend to use the room. Upon review and approval of your request, we will respond with room availability and any additional information.

Room Use, Fees & Insurance

Helena Food Share does not charge room rental fees for 501(c)(3) organizations and community groups hosting events within the scope of our mission and vision and who share our food-sharing philosophy. By offering the space free of charge, we aim to help nonprofit and community partners advance our collective missions.

Room Use Fees

  • There is a $30/session Setup Fee for private/non-Helena FoodShare-related events.
  • There is a $100/session Use Fee for events using the cook stations that are not in partnership with Helena Food Share.

Insurance

For requests using the cooking stations, a Certificate of Insurance covering liability is required no later than 48 hours prior to your event.

Room Use Restrictions

The following types of events are restricted in the Community Room:

  • Events with content that conflicts with or is otherwise not in line with Helena Food Share’s mission, vision, or values
  • Events related to lobbying, political campaigns, or electoral/partisan activities or content
  • Commercial or profit-making events
  • Private events such as weddings or birthday parties
  • Events that discriminate based on age, sex, religion/creed, race, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, or other protected class membership, as recognized by state and federal law

Note: We are currently only accepting requests for the Community Room held during regular business hours. Evening and weekend events will be considered later in 2025.

Room Setup Options

Click here to review a PDF of possible room arrangements. Room setup includes tables, chairs, available technology, and the use of the sinks, refrigerator, and microwaves. Two public restrooms are available, adjacent to the room. You will need to provide all other items needed for your event. The occupancy limit in the room is 49 people.

Cook Stations: Each cook station has a butcher block cooking bench and includes the following equipment

  • Kitchen Aid stand mixer with attachments and a full set of mixing bowls
  • Induction burner
  • Cookie sheets, and sauce and fry pans
  • Cutting board
  • Rolling pin, scale, a full set of measuring cups, and utensils
  • The room is equipped with two wall ovens, two microwaves, a sink, a refrigerator, and a dishwasher
