Did you Know?

In 2021, 535 volunteers provided over 13,000 hours working in the Pantry, in the warehouse, and covering a number of other critical activities at Helena Food Share. We love our volunteers and appreciate how they give of themselves each day to ensure all of our neighbors have food.

Thank you!

Current Opportunities:

Skilled volunteers help guide customers through the check-in and shopping process, rescue food from local stores, sort and move food each day so the Pantry is stocked and ready to go, help our garden thrive, and build boxes and bags of food for programs such as Kid Packs and Emergency Food Packs. We will work to place volunteers in the roles that are most needed and ones they are most suited for.

Garden Volunteers:

If you enjoy gardening, the Helena Food Share garden has several opportunities for you to help us grow nutritious fruits and veggies for distribution in our Pantry.

Grocery Rescue Volunteers:

Each day Helena Food Share rescues over 2000 pounds of food from grocery stores around town. Volunteers ride along with a staff member from 7:45 am until around 12:00 pm. Some days may go longer if we receive an abundance of rescue.

Rescue volunteers should be comfortable in all weather, be able to lift 30-50 lbs and climb in and out of a box truck. This is a physically demanding position. Let us be your gym once a week!

Pantry Greeter or Intake Volunteers:

Join our volunteers Loraine and Kay (shown here). It’s a fun way to support your neighbors and be part of a great community organization. If you have time in the afternoons, enjoy people, work well with a variety of folks, and are able to write on forms clearly, we have a position for you.

Pantry Support, Sorting & Stocking:

Other positions are also available for Pantry Support in the afternoons or Food Sorting & Stocking in the mornings.

Our Covid-19 Response

We continue to follow CDC and Lewis & Clark County Health Department guidelines for Covid 19. As variants becomes more prevalent in our county and state, we strongly urge everyone to wear a mask inside the Helena Food Share pantries while shopping and maintain a distance of 6 feet or more from others whenever possible inside or outside. We will provide a mask for anyone who needs one. Learn more.

Thank you for your support to keep our
community fed and strong!
